The Yoga of Understanding
sāmkhya-yoga
My inmost being is stricken by this flaw of pity,
For my mind is confused about dharma,
I ask you which would be better?
Tell me decisively, I am your pupil;
Instruct me who have come to you.

pity-weakness-overcome own being
pṛcchāmi tvām dharmasammūḍhacetāḥ

yacchreyaḥ syān niścitam brūhi tan me
which preferably should it be for certain? Tell that to me,

“Look, Arjuna. From here you can see
all the Kurus who are gathered to do battle.
At Guḍākeśa’s words, O Bhārata, Hṛṣīkeśa stationed the fine chariot between the two armies, before Bhīṣma, Droṇa and all the kings, and he said to the Pārtha, “Behold the Kurus assembled!”

and all the kings of the earth, said:
“Arjuna, behold all the Kurus gathered together.”
